Milk River Warrior

I arrived in Billings Montana on the 24th of September where I met up with Philip Culpepper, Chris Griffin, Steven McNelly and Tyler Viars of Team Realtree. We gathered our gear, packed up the suburban and headed north to Saco, Montana – and the Famed Milk River. Upon our arrival, the crew split up with each individual going a separate direction to scout different areas. I would be scouting a place called the Buffalo Drop – a sheer cliff used by Native Americans to launch buffalo to their deaths one hundred and fifty feet below. The alfalfa field at the base is boarded on the south by the Buffalo Drop and on the North by the Milk River. To the east of me there was a riffle in the Milk River were the deer cross from a bedding area in the north to another lush alfalfa field in the east. As the sun began to set over 30 bucks left the safety of the cover and headed towards the riffle, making their way to the lush alfalfa. Looking back to the west in the Buffalo Drop field I spotted a massive buck feeding his way into the west end of the Buffalo Drop and within 30 yards of a perfect stand site. The following afternoon Bob Ransom and Brett Weiner of Ameristep Tree Stands would join us in camp.

AlphaMax drops a trio of Midwestern bruisers

Michael Waddell, Travis “T-Bone” Turner and Nick Mundt – co-hosts of the new “Bone Collector” TV show set to air in January 2009 on The Outdoor Channel – are in Kansas deer camp this week with McMillan Outfitting. Despite high winds and warm temps, the Bone Collector boys tagged out with their brand new AlphaMax 32s and 35s. It was their first hunt with the all-new AlphaMax, and the results have been amazing. AlphaMax’s speed, whisper-quiet shot and unbelievable accuracy made short work of the Bone Collectors’ Pope and Young trophies. Michael Waddell’s buck was a personal best … it scored an incredible 167″, making it his biggest buck ever! Joining Waddell and company in camp this week were country music stars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert – both of who are diehard bowhunters and hardcore Hoyt fans. Blake and his Hoyt dropped a heavy-horned buck a few days ago. Hoyt would like to congratulate Michael, Travis and Nick on their awesome AlphaMax success! Stay tuned to Hoyt.com for more Bone Collector field reports as they continue to close the coffin on trophy-class bucks across the country …
